Half Marathon
The Half Marathon will start in front of the YMCA in Mirabeau Park in the City of Spokane Valley. The road in front of the Y is four lanes wide, allowing for a smooth start. You will cover about a mile on the streets of Mirabeau Park before entering the Centennial Trail and joining the full marathon route to the finish.
The bulk of the course is within both sight and sound of the Spokane River, flowing in mid-May with heavy spring runoff from nearby mountains. After the flat start, the course rolls gently over the Trail with a net elevation drop of 167 feet to the finish in Downtown Spokane’s beautiful Riverfront Park.
Click here for an interactive map of the Half Marathon course using the innovative “Map My Run” software. We suggest you use either the "SATELLITE" or "HYBRID" option selected from a box in the upper right corner of the screen to fully appreciate the course. An elevation profile may also be selected.
There are two significant road crossings on the Half Marathon course at approximately 4.4 miles and 10.7 miles. These crossings will be traffic controlled but the crossing points will be under the direction of Sheriff’s Deputies or Police Officers. It is imperative that you remove any headphones and pay close attention to instructions in these areas.
There is also an active railroad crossing at 10.8 miles. BNSF cannot guarantee that there will be no train during the race although the first train on a Saturday usually does not roll through until early afternoon. A train takes about six minutes to clear the crossing.
Bus transportation will be provided from the finish line to the start area. There will also be transportation after the race back to the start area for those who wish to drive to and park at the start. A schedule of availability for post-race transportation will be available as the race date nears.
