Course Maps

We are excited for the 2021 Windermere Marathon, but are not able to fully release the course at this time. Although we are confident that the 2021 event will take place, there is still some uncertainty about which course (2020 out and back course vs. traditional point to point course) we will run on relative to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our hope is to be able to deliver the traditional point to point course to our runners (Marathon: Liberty Lake to downtown Spokane. Half Marathon: Spokane Valley to downtown Spokane).   We realize that the point to point course is a highlight for many runners, but it presents some challenges logistically during the pandemic:

1. With the current requirement for staggered starts it means we have to shut down major arterials and other roads for longer periods of time.
2. Staggered starts require a longer period of train track crossing at Mission Ave in Spokane.
3. The point to point course requires shuttle buses which increases the possible risk for COVID-19 exposure to runners.
4. Point to point courses rely more heavily on gear check, but also require staff and volunteers to handle all the runners belongings compared to a traditional bag drop.

The Windermere Marathon course is known for being flat, fast, and scenic. Regardless of which course is selected, event organizers will hold steadfast to these values and make certain that the course is certified and eligible for Boston Qualification. As soon as we have more course related information, we will release it. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work toward providing a safe and exceptional race experience.
